If you're a college student in America, you're probably used to being broke. It's not because you're lazy. It's because it costs a ridiculous amount of money to attend a university.
That's why there was recently a campus democracy rally in Ohio. According to Reuters, "The demonstrations, dubbed the Million Student March, were planned just two days after thousands of fast-food workers took to the streets in a nationwide day of action pushing for a $15-an-hour minimum wage and union rights for the industry."
"Organizers are demanding tuition-free public colleges, cancellation of all student debt and a $15-an-hour minimum wage for campus workers."

Do you think that the price of college should be lowered?

Who's going to pay for students to go to college for free?

@k-dizzle Same in my state. I don't think you understand how expensive college is. For my career I need to go to a university. Community colleges only offer associate degrees which are worth little to nothing. Instate? Pfft. Still costs around 20,000 to 60,000. Even with fafsa and scholarships, you still need to pay thousands upfront. If college becomes more affordable, it's not out of your taxes, it's on the taxes of the top 1%. Don't come around with you self righteous bullshit if all you're going to say is that people just shouldn't go to college in pursuit of their careers and dreams if they don't have the money. Because not many have the money, even with tons of financial aid and scholarships. Very very very very few get full rides to colleges off of some scholarship, those aren't just handed out. You compete for them with thousands of others.

I live in Australia, and we allow you to go to uni (college) and not pay tuition fees until you are earning $50k per annum, so you can pay it off yourself once you're better prepared, instead of paying upfront like in America.

@Emily Weishaupt If you know anything about politics and economy, you know they plan to tax people who make billions (who are taxed almost nothing) and will not only allow more people to go to college, but greatly stimulate the economy.

Germany is not socialist and it is practically for free, even UK is cheaper

Yes and I believe the minimum wage should be $15

America has always been capitalist with socialist tendencies just think about all the government funded groups I don't think it would hurt to cut back in certain areas to help college kids

@Emily Weishaupt Actually, it most likely would. But even if it wouldn't, it would still greatly make it more affordable and open up the opportunity to many more. Which would be nice, I'd assume you'd agree.

The US federal gov't is currently trying trying to help all US public community colleges become tuition-free. This would allow students to graduate either w/ an associate degree, get major job training, or have 2 years of basic requirements complete enroute to a 4-yr degree. (California did this for years until a disastrous tax change ruined it, in part.) College costs, IMO, have become a disgrace & will ultimately harm the American future in many ways.
