There are a lot of silly habits that make you earn less! Even if you think that you’re doing your best and that you constantly focus on making more money, sometimes you only sabotage yourself and you’re doing exactly the opposite. Everyone makes mistakes and we often don’t realize that what we do is actually unproductive. We’ve formed quite a lot of bad habits that keep us from achieving the level of success we want or that we are destined for, we just have to break them and build better and healthier ones that will help us reach all our goals and fulfill all our dreams, no matter how impossible or crazy these might seem sometimes. Here are a few silly habits that make you earn less that you should really consider and try to correct, if you want to be more successful:
In my opinion, this is definitely one of the most harmful habits that make you earn less. Not doing things when they are supposed to be done and not taking care of your responsibilities on time will only lead to stress, anxiety and poor quality work. By always postponing your tasks and by finding all kinds of different fun things to do instead, you are only sabotaging yourself. At the same time, because of this bad habit, you will earn less money, since the results of your work won’t be as satisfying as they should be.
2. Not Communicating Efficiently
By not communicating in an efficient way, you won’t be able to say what’s on your mind, you will have trouble making yourself understood and you will fail to establish a good rapport with potential clients or bosses. Basically, if you don’t know how to communicate loud and clear what you want, you will never get what you want; in this situation, you will earn less money. There are a lot of things you can do to improve your communication skills, there are a lot of books you can read on this topic; you just need to put a little effort into it, have a little patience and all will work out just fine.
3. Spending More Money than You Make
This is another bad habit that can make you earn less, because it will get you into debt and I’m sure you all know that getting out of debt in never easy. We are often tempted to borrow money or to dip into savings just to get that thing we think we want so much (but which we don’t actually need or that we might not even use so often). This is one of those habits you need to break in order to be successful and reach your objectives. Focus on fulfilling your dreams instead, reduce your spending and work hard to achieve all your goals.
4. Poor Time-Management Skills
If you have poor time-management skills, you should definitely work on improving them, so they won’t stand in the way of your success. Learn how to be more organized, how to make a schedule and follow it. It may be a bit hard at first, but with a little practice, you will be able to improve your time-management skills and this will help you become more productive. You know what they say: time is money. So make sure you keep this in mind the next time you tend to procrastinate or think that arriving late somewhere is not such a big deal.
5. Being Too Picky with Work
I’m not saying you should do something that you absolutely hate or that will humiliate you. Just don’t be too picky when it comes to work. It’s important to follow your dreams and you should always do that, but achieving a goal usually takes time and until you will be able to get that dream job or work in the field you prepare yourself for, you might have to do some sacrifices and take a few job offers you don’t like so much, just to make enough money to support yourself. Don’t wait for the perfect job and do nothing while waiting! Be creative, use your talents and skills and earn some money, even if it isn’t as much as you would like at first. The Internet is filled with ways to make more money online, so make use of your time and pick up some freelance and temp work, until you find that perfect job you always dreamed of.
6. You Are Motivated by the Wrong Things
You will never earn the money you want if you are always motivated by the wrong things. You shouldn’t work to make more money (I’m not saying this is not an important aspect), you should focus on the quality of your work. If you are really good at what you are doing, people will notice that and the money will come afterwards; you will get that promotion you always wanted, you will get more clients and you will earn the money you deserve by doing something you love and that you are good at.
This is one of the most important bad habits you should try to correct in order to be more successful. A lot of people tend to settle for less because they are afraid of taking chances or even because they are afraid of being successful. Don’t settle for whatever’s good enough! Work hard and focus on reaching your goals and fulfilling your dreams! Keep your objectives in mind and aim for success!
There are a lot of things people do that endanger their goals and that can even influence their income in a negative way. I just mentioned a few in this little article but I’m sure there are many more I haven’t talked about. Can you give me a hand and tell me what other bad habits can make you earn less?
