1. Wear an Outfit You like

One of the ways to banish work blues is to wear an outfit you like. No, it won’t make all your work woes magically disappear, but it will make you feel just a little bit better. You always feel better when you are wearing something you like, right? It just kind of puts a positive spin on your day. It’s a little thing but it can help.

2. Indulge in a Treat

A treat can definitely cheer up your day. Treat yourself to a favorite coffee beverage or your favorite pastry on your way to work. It can help you get your day started off right. I don’t know about you but a little treat can lift my mood. It doesn’t make all the problems disappear but it gives you a nice temporary distraction.

3. Make Lunch Plans

Making lunch plans can help to banish work blues in a couple different ways. It gives you something to look forward to throughout the first part of your day. It also gives you a reason to get out of your workplace for a little while. This can help you to be in a better mood when you return. Staying in your workplace for the whole shift isn’t always a good idea.

4. Spruce up Your WORKSPACE

If you have a workspace that you work in regularly, like an office, consider sprucing it up a bit. A dreary workspace can make anyone feel down. Bring in some personal photos that make you smile. You might consider some cute items for your desk, such as little paperweights or other decorative accents. Cleaning up your desk can help, too.

5. Focus on the Good in Your Job

Your outlook on your job can improve greatly if you change your perspective about it. Of course, you can’t imagine that a terrible job is fabulous but you can try to look for the bright side of a job. Do you have good benefits? An understanding boss? If nothing else, your job is a paycheck and that is something to be grateful for.

6. Evaluate Your Job

Sometimes it is a good idea to evaluate your job. Are you truly that unhappy? Are you so miserable that you dread going to work daily or are you just in a slump? If you feel like your job is making you miserable and that isn’t going to change anytime soon, it may be time to think about transferring within your company or looking for other employment. Only you can make this decision for yourself.

7. Look for Another Job

If you have determined that you are truly unhappy with your job and that isn’t going to change anytime soon, you may want to look for another job. This is a good time to think about what you do and don’t want to do. Do you want to look for the same sort of work you have been doing or look for something different? You spend a lot of time at work so of course you don’t want to hate being there. If you can’t make it work for yourself at your job, it’s time to look for another one.

These are some ways to banish blues at work. What do you do when you are feeling down over your job? What makes you happy again?
